Solar Service Technician II at Freedom Forever Dublin, CA

Residential Solar The Service Technician II will report to the Field Manager and is responsible for completing service calls as dispatched, providing diagnostic, troubleshooting solar panel systems and electrical, preventive and corrective maintenance services to Freedom Forever's installed Residential systems.
Job Duties/ ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of Photovoltaic (PV) inverters, string boxes and solar panels and other componentsAssist in the commissioning of the solar array and monitoring systems during project installation when neededEnsure that PV systems are setup correctlyPerform re-roofs, roof repairs, drywall repairs as neededInstall hardware, PV modules, inverters and monitoring equipmentPerform commissioning of inverters and inspection of solar panelsMechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules and electrical equipmentRespond to corrective maintenance cases on PV inverters, string boxes and solar panels.
This includes troubleshooting, testing, and repairing activitiesElectrical wiring of solar array/system (AC and DC)Perform voltage testing using appropriate PPE and proceduresPrepare reports, if needed to comply with deliverables in O&M contractsHelp in all areas of preventative and corrective maintenance as directed by manager with minimal supervisionAttend mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology, maintenance and safetyEnsure tasks are performed according to organizational requirements for quality management and environmental, health and safety standards, policies and proceduresMaintains adherence to Company policies, environmental health and safety policies and good housekeeping practices.
Identifies gaps in safety standards as well as safety risks in the environment and provides recommendations to higher level technical staff and managementAbility to repair all types of Roofs as well as Ground MountsAbility to add or remove panels on solar systemsAble to identify/isolate roof leaksAbility to understand or have experience in Electrical Panels including Sub Panels (MBD derate, conduit bending, relocating circuits, etc.
)Ability to understand or have experience in Monitoring equipment (Cat5, Zigbee, Router, Range Extender and ETC )Able to read and understand plansAbility to understand or have experience with all AHJ guidelines within regionAbility to troubleshoot an inverter that is reporting production lossAbility to understand or have experience with all types of Solar Equipment (Enphase, Solaredge, Sunpower and ETC )Experience in Electrical troubleshooting (Power outage, shorts, faults, and ETC )Understand of battery backup systems (Enphase, LG and ETC )Understanding of Standalone Metering equipment (CT for production and consumption)Complete RMA's and log project documentationMay perform required travel for extended periods at a timeOther duties as assigned Qualifications RequirementsHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)Must have understanding of NEC (National Electrical Codes) codes that relate to PV installationsMust have a minimum of 1
year experienceMust have electrical and roof racking experienceAbility to read and comprehend electrical and mechanical schematics, technical manuals, procedures and regulationsExperience installing all types of grid-tier inverters and be able to work with various ground and roof mount racking systemsExperience in PV Component performance and HALT testingFamiliarity with electrical plans and field layoutsGood motivation with an attention to productivity, detail and safetyAble to work safety with heights on ladders and in confined areasBe able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasksMust be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops and able to work on your feet for long periods of timeBe able to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workdayAttention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent customer service skillsRegular, reliable and predictable attendanceAbility to work well with others in a collaborative team environmentAbility to work in extreme environments (example:
